Boots Press Day!

So today I attended the Boots press day with my cousin Kathy who is a professional Make-up Artist.

Yummy snacks upon arrival :)

The event took place at the Future Gallery by Leicester Square and being a beauty junkie, you can imagine my excitement! I guess I have to be grateful that my skin can handle quite a lot considering the amount of different products I am forever trying on my skin!! I guess you have to enjoy the benefits now as I’m not sure how much of it I will be getting away with in years to come :O

I loved the set-up of the main room as it really made me feel at home and off course I love all things ‘girly & fabulous’ so was immediately drawn to the dressing table which featured some of Boot’s fantastic No7 products! Honestly if you have never tried any of the Boots No7 products you are SERIOUSLY missing out!! What was great about the Press day was I got to learn more about the science behind the Boots product formula’s and check my skin type as it has most definitely changed over the years. It used to be very dry and slowly I have discovered how oily it actually is now.

It's all in the Science :)

I got to try the new Boots Primer (out in stores Jan 2012) which felt absolutely Lush on the Skin!

Overall I was all for the day cream and the N07 Lipsticks!! I sure will be stocking up on these in the New Year!!!

Perfume Shop Press Day

So last Thursday I headed down to the Perfume Shop Press day to view their amazing Christmas range and meet the team.

I can’t believe how much the perfume shop has actually evolved!! It has become a household brand and no longer considered as that ‘Discount Retailer’. I always saw it as the ‘Budget perfume shop’ but those days are long gone! I mean don’t get me wrong, their prices are still very competitive , however I don’t ever recall finding ‘Chanel’ or ‘Gucci’ being sold at the ‘Old Perfume Shop’ should I say. It’s interesting how you notice the evolution of brands over time.

I went through the range and tested out the scents of some of the brands they carry. It was simply perfume Heaven :) I also fell in love with Theirry Mugler once again (I mean can you blame me?) It’s just one of those scents that you always come back to, such a classic!

I also got to try out the new DKNY ‘Apple’ branded 'Delicious' perfumes. The Mango one really smells like Mango. The smells are really sweet and I think are great for the Spring/Summer season.

I also made some notes on what are some of their must buy’s this season and have listed it below, especially seen as people starting tweeting me and messaging me on what fragrance they should opt for as soon as I mentioned I was at the Perfume Shop press day on Twitter! That’s the power of 1 tweet!!!! (makes unbelievable face).

Reb’l Fleur by Rihanna EDP 50ml TPS Price £29.50
Rihanna’s debut scent is every bit as powerful and dramatic as the rebellious
R&B diva herself. A sizzling cocktail of scent, Reb’l Fleur by Rihanna embodies
the Barbadian beauty in every way. Top notes of rich, red berries, ripe peaches
and purple plums burst into a heart of tropical Hawaiian hibiscus flowers and
smooth coconut water that in turn spill over onto a dreamy base of musk and
vanilla. The captivating scent is encased in an ultimately glamorous and unique
bottle inspired by a stilleto heel, the shoe of choice for the lady herself and is
available online and in store at The Perfume Shop from 27th July.

Britney Spears Cosmic Radiance EDT 50ml RRP £29.00

Not just a one trick pony, our favourite princess of pop Britney Spears has a
scent for every occasion. Her latest creation, Cosmic Radiance, available from
25th August, joins her stunning collection including Fantasy, Midnight Fantasy,
Believe and Radiance to make sure that there is a perfume to suit every girl.
Inspired by the idea of luminous sensuality, Cosmic Radiance reflects the
energy and beauty of women everywhere. Notes of amber, sandalwood and
liquid vanilla combine to create a scent cocktail that is a must-have for bold,
confident and empowered women everywhere!

House of Chanel

From legends like Marilyn Monroe to modern day heroines like Keira Knightly,
The House of Chanel always exudes radiance and beauty. Chanel No.5 (EDP
50ml TPS price £59.99) was introduced in 1921 and is still a favourite today
with tonka bean, patchouli and vetiver notes. For the younger Chanel fan,
Coco Mademoiselle (EDP 50ml TPS price £59.99) perfectly combines oriental
fresh notes with a floral jasmine-rose accord. Some scents are timeless -
Allure Homme Sport (EDT 50ml TPS price £42.50) combines contemporary
class with the iconic brand heritage. With notes of lavender and grapefruit this
fragrance is perfect for a guy that is both active and stylish.

Valentino, Valentina For Her EDP 50ml RRP £55.00
Fresh from the Valentino collection and the latest of the autumnal fragrances
from this iconic fashion house, Valentina Valentino is available at The Perfume
Shop nationwide from 3rd October and is the perfect scent for those
fashionistas who like to be in the know and want to smell divine. The flirty,
feisty and fun fragrance is an oriental floral scent with top notes of fresh
bergamot and alba truffle. Blends of fruity orange flower and jasmine
highlight the heart notes, while the base contains cedarwood and warm notes
of vanilla. The glamorous signature scent is a fresh sparkle of seduction and an
ideal choice for those women who empower femininity

Butter London: no ordinary nail varnish that's for sure!

So last week I got to meet Nonie Creme, Founding Creative Director of Butter London at Claridges to learn more about this amazing brand! In an intimate chat, Nonie revealed her current and upcoming collection range which will all be revealed in due course :)

So I bet you're already wondering what it is that makes Butter London so special? In fact to be honest I came across this fabulous brand about 1 year ago and wondered why a brand based in the U.S named themselves after London? Well it all came to light as Nonie explained that she had previously lived in London for 15 years and during her team here she even managed to work with Vivienne Westwood!! Any who that’s a story for another day.

Below pic: Me with Butter London Founder Nonie Creme

What amazed me about this brand was perfectionists such as Victoria Beckham, Issa, and Calvin Klein have all enlisted Nonie to customise shades and in some cases to match the exact skin tone of each individual model for their New York Fashion Week Shows! I mean personally for me that says it all! Butter London however is not just relied upon by fashion designers, but also from women who are turning to a cheaper alternative to update their look. Nonie explains “While women on a budget may hesitate to buy a new dress or shoes, nail polish can be used as a less expensive way to update their look and keep in sync with fashion”. What’s also great about the brand is the fact that they are always on trend each season. The current season palette "reflects the luxe-grunge moment, and burst of new era, ‘dirty’ jewel stones prevalent on the Catwalk for A/W 2011."
At the end of our chat I was dying to try some of the colours. One thing about me is I am very fussy and particular about nail varnish because I am always on the go and don’t have the pleasure of sitting for ages waiting for my nail polish to dry. I have also always found that certain nail polish colours (such as black) take forever to dry so completely avoid those colours. Now what I found with Butter London was far from the above. Not only was one coat only needed but the way it dried so quickly amazed me! I was definitely impressed with this product and will definitely be getting some more colours!

National Beauty Blogging Event at the Professional Beauty Show

Last week I attended the National Beauty Blogging Event which took place in Excel London.
Bloggers were invited to preview the latest beauty launches from ARTDECO, Batise, Broadway Nails, Carita, Decleor, JOICO, Kiss Nails, Medik8, MONU skincare, Nailease, Natura Bisse, RMK, TanOrganic and Gentry Grooming Co. Being a beauty junkie myself you could just imagine my excitement!!! I had never come across a lot of the brands so was surprised to discover they had been around for quite a number of years and couldn’t wait to try them out.

The day also involved different speakers coming in to give talks and further insights into all things beauty-ful :)

The event was a whole day event starting with expert advice by Celebrity Make-up artist Daniel Sandler. For those of you who have never come across Daniel Sandler, he has basically beautified a selection of A-List celebrities who have included Twiggy, Myleene Klass, Naomi Campbell, Rachel Weisz, Kristen Scott Thomas and Kate Moss.

Below pic: Daniel Sandler the man himself

Later in the afternoon Gavin Duffy from the Irish Dragon’s Den gave a talk on his investment in TanOrganic, a 100% natural, organic, odourless tan with no artificial / synthetic colouring! Yes you read right!!! A woman mentioned she nearly divorced over the smell of the current fake tan products she was using as her husband could not take the smell!! It just shows how important the odourless feature of TanOrganic is!!!

Gavin also spoke of the importance of beauty blogging and told us a funny and insightful story about the first advert they ever ran for TanOrganic but that’s a whole other post LOL.

Below pic: Gavin Duffy's mystery advert lol

My tired looking self (The effects of Fashion Week) also managed to get a quick snap with the lady behind TanOrganic (Below pic)

To close the event a short film entitled ‘All Walks Beyond the Catwalks’ by Fashion and Style Guru Caryn Franklin and Debra Bourne was shown. I first met Caryn at a fashion business meeting I was invited to by the British Fashion Council with regards to raising the profile of select designers. She was so lovely and passionate about the lack of broad representation within the Fashion Industry, so it was nice to see Caryn continuing to promote her belief by putting together “All Walks Beyond the Catwalks’. The film basically talks about how they feel we are bound by stereotypes exemplified by the Catwalk ‘ideal figure’. They see ‘Beauty through Diversity’ and wish that the leaders of fashion would recognise this is their choice of imagery in the future.

Below Pic: Caryn’s presentation

I managed to have a quick catch-up with Caryn and you can just feel her passion and how much she is putting in to help diversify the Industry. Find out more about her film at www.allwalks.org

The Brands:

As I mentioned earlier in the post there were so many fantastic brands on display that I had never come across previously so it was great getting a full insight into their products. Below is a quick read on some of them:

ARTDECO
It was the first time coming across this brand and I must say the quality was just fantastic! ARTDECO was founded by Helmut Baurecht in 1985 and is Germany’s No.1 Make-up Brand and available in 88 countries worldwide. The brand is adored by celebrities including Hayley Tamaddon, Michelle Keegan, Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton.

Batiste
Batiste Dry Shampoo is the perfect product for all you busy bees out there constantly on the go. Why? Because it is a shampoo with a ‘no water needed’ formula! It basically banishes oily roots, giving lifeless hair the quick make-over it needs. Just a few sprays are needed to refresh your hair and leave it full of body and texture :)

Broadway Nails and Kiss Nails
OMG I went crazy over this brand as nail art is my new thing at the moment! Yes unfortunately I have become a bit obsessed with this craze :) and if it was not for my poor nails being damaged from a terrible fall I recently had (yes very embarrassing) I would have got them done there and then. Kiss Products are the world’s largest manufacturer and distributor of professional quality nail products. Their kits are all easy to use and enable you to achieve salon results at home! I will be testing out my kits very soon so keep visiting to see the results. I am so excited about testing out their nail products that I think I will need a whole day!!

MEDIK8
Medik8 are Europe’s leaders in solution-based cosmeceutical skin care product development. What I liked about this brand was the fact that it gives results without the irritation.

NAILEASE
This product was another one of my favourites!! Being someone always on the go and notoriously known by friends and family for having chipped nails I had to immediately give praise to the genius that came up with such a concept!! Watching the brand representatives quickly demonstrate simply blew me away. This is a great product for girls on the go. They are basically 100% dry nail varnish strips which can be applied to your fingertips in a matter of minutes for a smudge free, long lasting manicure.

Nailease also launched on the 28th February in 300 boots stores with prices starting from only £5.99!!!

Monu Skincare
I absolutely fell in love with this brand!!! I have very dry skin and the instant results I got by using just a small amount said it all! I mean it really lasts and moisturised my skin to the fullest. It has not left my dressing table since, I can ensure you that much :)

RMK
RMK is a leader in the Japanese beauty industry and has been the top selling Make-up Artist Brand in Japan since its debut 12 years ago!!! I had never come across this brand previously and the high quality was definitely apparent!!

So I had to have a quick coffee before dashing home and that’s when I bumped into Amy Childs of TV show ‘The Only Way is Essex’. Those that know me can imagine my excitement as that show is seriously one of my guilty pleasures and Amy is my favourite character :)

Below pic: Amy Childs at the Professional Beauty Event

I will be trying out my goody bag products and give you the full 1/1 on them very soon...

Caudalie Brunch on the London Eye...

Despite getting in extremely late from the Mirror Boy premiere last night I was determined not to miss the Caudalie Premier Cru Eye Cream Brunch on the London Eye to discover and learn more about this fantastic product.

I'm not going to lie, I was a bit nervous about this event as I am rather terrified of heights and have avoided the London Eye for as long as I can remember. Speaking to a friend definitely re-assured me that I would be fine :)

I just about made in time as I was pre-occupied with looking for the meeting point which I had passed without knowing!!! Yes I was that tired.

Well we finally boarded and they supplied us with brunch which was LOVELY and such a bonus for me especially seen as I had not managed to nab any breakfast!

BRUNCH!!!
Caudalie UK director, Jean-Christophe gave us some history on the Caudalie brand and certain facts about their Premier Cru Eye Cream.

The overall presentation was great as it really gave more of an insight into the brand and made you understand why Caudalie is not just any kind of beauty brand. The eye cream initially Launched exclusively in Space NK and sold out within 1 week. I know right!!!!!!

The Premier Cru is a combination of 3 Caudalie patents (Resveratrol, Viniferine and grape Polyphenols) with the most effective natural active ingredients to treat all the signs of ageing: wrinkles, lack of firmness, dark spots, oxidative stress, dullness, cutaneous dryness. Your skin is ensured to be smoother, firmer, more luminous and visibly younger.

We got to try out the eye cream and I must say the texture felt so smooth against the skin and silky. Also you only need a tiny squirt of the cream for amazing results. This means that a bottle is likely to last you a very long time!

After the talk I got to chat and catch-up with other beauty bloggers who also loved the Caudalie eye cream! This versatile cream is definitely a must for your everyday handbag.

Some quick facts about Caudalie

- it was launched in 1995 by Mathilde & Bertrand Thomas
-Caudalie has become the leading anti-ageing brand in French Pharmacies.
- none of their products are tested on animals
- The Premier Cru eye cream took 7 years to complete.

My Beauty Product of the week...

This week my beauty product of the week has to be the VIE at home ‘Hand in Glove’ exfoliating sugar scrub! Being someone who has extremely dry hands :( I am always on the hunt for that special product that can soften my hands, therefore was very excited about trying this product! Thank god I work in an Industry where there’s more bisous’s on the cheeks going on as opposed to hand shaking ! lol.
Being a presentation snob the first thing I loved about this product was the packaging and the fact that it would look really nice in my bathroom amongst my other products :) Well they do say presentation is key and says a lot, so I was very impressed!

Ensured to keep your hands in tip top condition I massaged the ‘Hand in Glove’ exfoliating sugar scrub onto both hands and must say felt the sugar scrub particles working their magic within seconds. I think you most definitely know a great product rather instantly when it comes to beauty products.

Once I finished my hands felt so soft and smooth I could not believe it!!!!!
Extra benefits of this product includes it also contains skin rejuvenating Rosehip Sead Oil to help provide immediate relief to the signs of dry skin. A blend of Echinacea and Chamomile help sooth while the sweet Almond Oil and beeswax help moisturize your skin. Plus the anti-oxidant benefits of Vitamin E.

This product is definitely a must for those looking for long lasting soft, smooth and silky hands like myself!

New CID Cosmetics Press Event

Today I attended the New CID Cosmetics Press Event.Founded in Britian in 2005 New CID Cosmetics was born from the New ID Studios & Burlingtons. It's a simple to use range with innovative tools such as light-up lip glosses and built in mirrors. Founder and director Kelly Coleman explained ‘The aim was to create a range that simplified make-up application. We listened to hundreds of New CID make-up artists, sharing insights they have picked up from making up real women. These women felt that make-up shopping can be overwhelming with too many fashion-led shades which aren’t always wearable or easy to apply.’ So, New CID Cosmetics was unveiled to fill that gap in the market’.

Below: Founder Kelly Coleman giving us an intro of the Brand

We had an opportunity to spend 15 minutes at each station to learn more about their products and also get mini make-overs should I say and just a general feel of the products. My group started off at the eye product station. I remember cringing when the Make-up artist, Michael Phillips, asked to test out some smokey eyes on me!!! To be honest I have never had smokey eyes done on me where I actually felt I could walk out of the building with it on. The last time I had smokey eyes (As I showed you in one of my previous posts) I ended up coming out looking like a Panda!!! So since that experience I really don’t and hate doing smokey eyes. I just like to admire it on everyone else :)

I obviously explained to the MUA my dislike of smokey eyes and my previous experiences, however instead of putting him off, he found it rather challenging to test out the smokey eyes look on me and somehow...like I said just SOMEHOW he managed to convince me, lol.

Within 15 minutes Michael not only made smokey eyes look amazing on me using the New CID cosmetics but also proved to me that when done properly and with the right products, smokey eyes can look fab on anyone! I was so happy with the results and the products felt great on my skin. My face is very sensitive so for me the smooth feel and general texture of the products was a very important factor.

Below: My Smokey Eyes with the Amazing Make-up Artist Michael Phillips who made it happen :)

He used the i-shadow quad with mirror and i-smoulder to do the smokey eyes.

Later we moved onto the Lip station and OMG their amazing Lip glosses made my lips feel amazing! One thing I hate is an overly sticky lip gloss that ends up drying out your lips! Their i-gloss lip glosses light-up and come with a mirror so very handy for squeezing in your purse on that night out!!

Below: The i-gloss

The last station was more focused on the face, so your concealer, powders and blushers etc.

Below: Theresa from WGSN.com got her make-up done and have a look at the amazing results below! She looks gorgeous and so natural!

One thing I was very impressed about overall was how versatile the New CID cosmetic products are and the consistency in the quality. Being a make-up junkie I did not have one bad thing to say about the products, I simply wanted them all!! Including some fabulous lashes I saw...might have to nip down to House of Fraser this weekend to bag myself one :)

My Beauty Product of the week...

My beauty product of the week has to be my Tom Ford Black Orchid perfume for women!
I first came across this gorgeous perfume during Fashion Nights out back in September 2010. I immeditely fell in love with it and purchased it a couple of weeks later. It cost around £86 for the bottle but was well worth it. I took time to think about the purchase to ensure it was not just an impulse buy, getting lost in the moment during the Fashion Nights Out buzz etc :)

The smell is so sensual and very unique!

This bottle lasts ages as you only need to spray a tiny bit. A girlfriend of mine actually has the Men's version as she says she prefers that one so a very versatile range :)

You can purchase it online via Debenhams at here

Debenhams Press Day!

Today I went to the Debenhams’s press day to view their SS11 collection. To say the weather in London has recently become unpredictable and a complete nightmare would be an understatement! It was freezing and heavily snowing but as they say ‘the show must go on’! I was relieved when I finally arrived at the venue as I can never seem to keep my eyes open whilst it’s snowing, lol, so I just about saw where I was going. Thank god I had Claudia, our assistant at work, to keep my mind off the awful weather !

So we finally arrived into a warm building :) I was so relived to feel some heat.
The layout of the event made everything so much easier which was definitely a bonus as we did not have much time to spend there.

I headed straight over to gorgeous Butterfly maxi dress by Matthew Williamson. I fell in love with this dress instantly and know this will definitely be a big hit this summer!

I loved the Henry Holland range for Debenhams. It’s perfect for all the Summer festivals and so versatile.

The price range was fantastic for all the designer ranges!! I mean where on earth do you get a brand new Henry Holland Mac for £45 or a Matthew Williamson dress for £65??? That is what I call value for money.

I am in love with their Red Herring palm cut out swimsuit which will be selling for a mere £22, Unbelievable!!

My must have jewellery piece has got to be the Julien Macdonald multi chain drape necklace (£20). This is the perfect statement piece to jazz up any simple outfit!

As for shoes you would be glad to hear that they have Faith shoes stocked there and the new range is just fabulous. My favourite was the Tyra Pony skin wedge (see below )

So I was amazed and excited to discover that Debenhams stock the French make-up brand ‘Black Up’ which is an amazing brand that specialises in make-up for women of colour. Ok so I know what you’re thinking!!! What a name huh? I too am not keen on the name as a whole but can swear to you that this brand is amazing and it works!!! All my cousins in Paris use it in some shape or form and it works wonders!! Next time you’re in Debenhams just test it out and let me know what you think??

Anyway goodnight for now
