Au revoir 2009 …Welcome 2010

Wow what a year it’s been!!!! The Noughties are over!!! Cannot believe it!!!

About a month ago I was saying to friends how quick the year’s gone by and how I can’t believe it’s nearly over. It’s only when I started thinking about everything that I’ve done this year and everything that’s happened that I thought twice about thinking the year flew by!!

Nicole Richie asked today… “The 60's, The 70's The 80's, The 90's... what will we be calling these past 10 years?” which got me thinking that’s true…did not even think about that one!

So I’ve achieved most of the things I really wanted to this year and am very proud of myself as it has not been easy, but I truly believe that when you work hard it really does pay off!!

One of my early highlights of the year has got to be my Greeting Card range being snapped up and stocked at the gorgeous Lifestyle Bazaar Boutique (www.lifestylebazaar.com) and the launch of the ‘A La Mode’ International Catwalk show.

I’ve met and built so many great friendships and directed numerous successful events. How I’ve found the time I don’t know :)

Some other highlights of the year for me in general have included:

- Moi Meeting Spike Lee the film director

- President Barack Obama’s inauguration

- Moi Meeting Emma Bunton (Baby Spice)

- Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of London Fashion Week

- The Italian Black Vogue issue

- Grazia Magazine loving my fashion Greeting Card Range – www.lovegenevieve.co.uk

- Raising money for Charity and sponsoring a Charity Fashion Show

As well its highs the lows for 2009 were definitely:

- The deaf of Michael Jackson – Yes I was a true fan of his music and stayed up all night watching the news in disbelief.

- Jade Goody dying of Cancer – This was sooooo sad!!!

- Patrick Swayze’s death – I loved ‘Dirty Dancing’ and actually decided I was going to Marry Patrick Swayze after watching it –lol, You know how it’s like when you’re young – he,he

- Brittany Murphy’s sudden death – Loved her in Clueless!!

- The Tiger Woods Scandal

- My favourite childhood shop Woolworths closing down simply broke my heart :(

So right I’m gonna finish getting ready and head to a local bar in Islington for some drinks and celebrations with friends!!!

I wish you all lots of success and happiness for 2010 and hope you’ve all enjoyed reading my blog. There are lots to come for 2010 so watch this space!

Mwah!

The finding your Feet Fashion show…

Today I attended the Finding your Feet Fashion event at the exquisite celebrity venue, Movida.

The finding your Feet Fashion show is a youth-led event that promotes young designers alongside those who are already established in the industry. It was put together as an inspirational new way to showcase young British fashion and talent.

All proceeds raised on the night was donated to The Diana Award. The Diana Award was set up in memory of Princess Diana to recognise young people who make selfless contributions to their communities, and help empower young people to make the difference to their own lives and society as a whole.

Below pic: The event host

The Catwalk show featured several up and coming designers who included Bot I Lam, Louise Crokett Danielle Mazin and Tina Lobondi just to name a few.

Overall it was a great event with a nice crowd.

Below pic: Models backstage!!

The raffle prizes were fantastic and included £150 Fenwick Gift Voucher, Wunderkind sunglasses (worth £395), a Nicole Farhi bag and lots more fabulous goodies.

After the final Catwalk show I made my way home and gosh it was FREEZING!!!!!!!! British weather hey-lol

Me and Spike Lee @ the Mayfair Hotel Fashion Week Party

After the Untold LFW show I went to the Mayfair Hotel Fashion Week party to meet the stunning presenter Leah Charles and to my surprise I bumped into Spike Lee at the party.

So I had to take a quick snap before he disappeared off course!! So whilst taking the pic Estelle and Nicola from Girls Aloud walks by looking truly amazing!! and ready to party!! I must say Nicola has been making a real fashion statement throughout Fashion week, with her fab selection of outfits.

Nicola’s dress was gorgeous and she looked very striking.

I kept my style pretty simple yet elegant so opted for one of International designer Nico D’s beautiful pieces.

I also bumped into my friend Daryl, Tara Moon and Violinist Analiza Ching, Miliner and author Tracey with her husband(Below pic).

After a few dances I was shattered so called my cab and as I was waiting I bumped into Su-Elise (Mystic Band member). She was so bubbly and somehow we ended up having a brief conversation about relationships!!! But more on a positive note she has just launched her own performing Arts school in Kent which I found just so inspiring!!

My cab then arrived and I said au revoir to all and headed home to my bed :)

'A La Mode' Finale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Day 2

Today was the last day of ‘A La Mode’ which showcased another set of 5 fantastic emerging and Independent designers who included Mazelino, Marthe Aime, Moixa, Monica Couture and Guate Goat.

The room was packed with guests excited to see what these designers had to present and one thing I can confirm was that they were far from disappointed with the outcome.

Opening the show was Brighton based label Mazelino who launched their first ready to wear collection, Coco by Mazelino, this season. Think breakfast at Tiffany’s and Coco Chanel!!

Following them was Parisian label Marthe Aime with their fabulous range of accessories ensured to jazz up any outfit. The concept behind this label is just fantastic without a doubt!

Next up was Moixa, a luxurious style brand based on the timeless values of quality fabrics, attention to detail and stylish cuts. Inspired by travel, music, art and architecture.

Monica Couture followed showcasing her eastern traditional inspired pieces with cuts and designs catering to a trendy market.

Closing the show was Guate Goat with their high quality bags and shoes.

Exhibitors for the evening included Nooshooz, Rivets and n Stitch, 4 Seasons Shop and Carolina Faria Footwear.

The gorgeous Charlotte from Glam Media ( www.glam.com) also came down to the show to show her support. Read about her write up via the below link:

Clicqisse Pre Fashion Week Catwalk...

Today I went to the Clicqisse designer’s pre LFW fashion show at the famous HeyJo venue in Jermyn Street.

The show was presented by the fabulous Lara Accison of Fashion TV and showcased the Spring/Summer 2010 collections of 3 amazing emerging Clicqisse designers. For those of you who have never come across CLICQISSE, CLICQISSE pronounced as (c l i c k s) is a creative management company that sets the platform for passionate new generation fashion designers, and aspiring models under one umbrella to unveil their creative talent in the industry. With an aim to fulfilling a niche, CLICQISSE is proud to have worked and collaborated with various creative networks both in the UK and international with great success.

The CLICQISSE Designers who showcased their collections were ZSOFIA WEBER, FOTINI VERGINI & guest designer MASSUNIQ. Their collections consisted of a unique blend of contemporary high prêt a porter designs, promising quality, comfort, and individuality for the new woman with a sense of class and style. Each piece is well thought of to give the wearer a desirable elegant look without compromising femininity, and the creative edge that gives individuality to the garments. I loved Massuniq’s avant grade accessory pieces!!

Below pic: Designs by MASSUNIQ

They were pretty extraordinary I must say!! The model’s hair looked AMAZING!! thanks to Avant Garde stylist Perry Patrasewski, the head stylist for the night, and his team.

Singer and songwriter Elsa Chapman also performed a fantastic set for the crowd. She was absolutely amazing!!! Sponsors supporting the event included O.P.I, Studio TMLS and Sanctuary Spa. The goody bags were the best I have received in a long while and filled with exciting beauty treats. I then headed home after the show and guess what…?? It was raining as always –lol x

The Vogue Fashion night out and Pre London Fashion Week Celebrations

Hi guys,

I can’t believe fashion week is nearly here again…I feel like the previous season was the other day!!! But anyway I’m not complaining, I am in fact extremely excited about all the glitz and glamour etc etc that will be happening next week in London. I may be considered as being biased here but I can honestly say LFW is the best fashion week and most daring I have yet been to!!. From the clothes to the people and the energy surrounding it makes it so unique in its own right and so wonderful to be part of.

As part of my pre-fashion week celebrations I went to the Vogue Fashion Night out event in London’s West End and I must say everyone was dressed to impress and at their ‘fashion best!!’. You were easily able to distinguish the brave with their daring hair cuts (think Rhianna, Solange and Cassie) and the trend setters from the trend followers!!

As part of a bold global initiative, the international editions of VOGUE partnered with designers, department stores, high-street chains and boutiques to create Fashion’s Night Out, an evening extravaganza held around the world from 6pm until midnight. For this event to be made possible the VOGUE team worked with retailers to create a night of original in-store activities, including personal appearances, makeovers and workshops, during extended shopping hours.

For those of you looking to get a taste of fashion week can hop down to the ‘A La Mode’ LFW Catwalk at the Charing Cross Hotel next week. Visit the below link for more info:
