Debenhams Press Day!

Today I went to the Debenhams’s press day to view their SS11 collection. To say the weather in London has recently become unpredictable and a complete nightmare would be an understatement! It was freezing and heavily snowing but as they say ‘the show must go on’! I was relieved when I finally arrived at the venue as I can never seem to keep my eyes open whilst it’s snowing, lol, so I just about saw where I was going. Thank god I had Claudia, our assistant at work, to keep my mind off the awful weather !

So we finally arrived into a warm building :) I was so relived to feel some heat.
The layout of the event made everything so much easier which was definitely a bonus as we did not have much time to spend there.

I headed straight over to gorgeous Butterfly maxi dress by Matthew Williamson. I fell in love with this dress instantly and know this will definitely be a big hit this summer!

I loved the Henry Holland range for Debenhams. It’s perfect for all the Summer festivals and so versatile.

The price range was fantastic for all the designer ranges!! I mean where on earth do you get a brand new Henry Holland Mac for £45 or a Matthew Williamson dress for £65??? That is what I call value for money.

I am in love with their Red Herring palm cut out swimsuit which will be selling for a mere £22, Unbelievable!!

My must have jewellery piece has got to be the Julien Macdonald multi chain drape necklace (£20). This is the perfect statement piece to jazz up any simple outfit!

As for shoes you would be glad to hear that they have Faith shoes stocked there and the new range is just fabulous. My favourite was the Tyra Pony skin wedge (see below )

So I was amazed and excited to discover that Debenhams stock the French make-up brand ‘Black Up’ which is an amazing brand that specialises in make-up for women of colour. Ok so I know what you’re thinking!!! What a name huh? I too am not keen on the name as a whole but can swear to you that this brand is amazing and it works!!! All my cousins in Paris use it in some shape or form and it works wonders!! Next time you’re in Debenhams just test it out and let me know what you think??

Anyway goodnight for now

TMC 2010 Finals !!!

So yesterday was the TMC finals which took place at the Porchester halls in Bayswater London. For those of you who have never heard of TMC, basically Top Model of Colour (TMC) is a modelling competition with a difference. It’s been going strong for 5 years and takes competitors from black, mixed, Hispanic and other ethnic minorities who are typically under represented in the modelling world. One male and one female winner is chosen from a stunning mix of finalist’s who have been whittled down from hundreds of applicants. With the backing of the TMC corporation the winners are guided towards supermodel greatness within the UK and Worldwide (former winners have had shoots and catwalk opportunities as far reaching as Gambia and New York). Most recently the competition was launched in Holland.

The plan was initially to goto the event with one of my best friends and fellow journalist Miss Bello, however I got struck with really bad flew a couple of days ago so have been in bed all weekend! My outfit was set and I had received my invitation and tickets weeks in advance by the lovely Shereece at Sassi Pr but my body just said no and just indulge in the Lemsip.
I was so gutted to miss this event as was really looking forward to it but remember guys health comes first :)

So Miss Bello called me with excitement today to tell me that Nana Afua Anwti (One of my favourite models btw) had won the female competition and a guy called Jason Best had one the Male competition. Miss Bello was also a judge at the event and ( I must say I see her more as a Danni Minogue type judge as opoosed to a Simon Cowell type) and had the pleasure in contributing to crowning such beautiful people!.

Below are some pics from the event
The Judges :)

QVC Press Day!

Today I attended the QVC Spring/Summer press day with my cousin who is a professional Make-up Artist and always on the hunt for amazing new products like myself :)

I’m not going to lie to you, it was FREEZZZZZZZZIIINNNNGGGG cold outside and I believe slightly snowing, but in the name of fashion and beauty we headed down to Tottenham Court Road to see what QVC had to offer! My aunt is an avid QVC fan so every time I’m at her house QVC is always on. She’s not really into online shopping as she’s a bit old school so loves the whole QVC thing. So you can imagine her excitement when I told her I was going to their press day lol.

I did not quite know what to expect. I know QVC has really evolved over the years and are doing more name branded items and collaborations.

When we arrived we were greeted with the most amazing Cupcakes on a stick! I know right!! They were delicious! Below is a pic of my one.

The beauty section had so many fantastic products! I could not believe my eyes! No wonder my aunt is addicted to the shopping channel.

Some of my favourite products had to be:

1. The Mally Get the Glow Collection
2. The Prai 24 k Golden creme Extraordinaire (So luxurious!!!)
3. The Nina Leonard Graphic Zig Zag Print chain strap Maxi Dress
4. The Butler & Wilson Couture S Chunky Flower Necklace
5. The exotic Elemis Lime and Ginger hand and body lotion

I even got my nails down by an O.P.I technician. I went for the teal coloured O.P.I nail polish. I must remember to get the actual colour code. It should be out shortly and you’re honestly going to love this gorgeous colour. I will keep you posted.

My cousin loved the make-up range and Laura Geller brush!

Overall I was so impressed with the fantastic range of products and will definitely be bagging myself some of those gorge items :)

Bye for now x
