Bernard Chandran’s London Fashion Week show…

This morning I went to see Bernard Chandran’s AW 2008 collection at London Fashion Week. Despite all the madness and tiredness I was extremely excited as it was one of the only Fashion Week show’s I was able to fit into my mad Nolcha Fashion Week schedule.

The Collection:
Bernard’s collection left me absolutely gob smacked!!! His creations were amazing, I mean seriously words cannot describe. His spectacular dresses featured hidden corset detailing “emphasising the bust line but with a softened silhouette.”

Judging by the facial reaction of the audience and sudden backstage rush immediately after the show, it was evident that this show was an absolute success. I loved it!!!

I set off and read my daily Rubbish, London Fashion Week’s daily paper, and made my way to my next meeting J
About Bernard Chandran:
A Malaysian designer described as “Malaysia’s Prince of Fashion”. He knew at the tender age of 16 that he wanted to become a fashion designer but just had to convince his father, who wanted him to become an accountant.
He initially studied fashion at a local college in Malaysia and soon jetted off to study in Paris.
He was voted the designer of the year by the Malaysian International Fashion awards in 2003.
This year (2008) he has plans to open boutiques in US, India and Dubai.

Launch of Nolcha Métier Magazine

Today was the London launch of Nolcha Metier magazine, the Fashion Designer's Handbook with an international business scope and informative demeanour. The aim is to bring business issues to the forefront of the fashion industry and to equip readers with the ability to discuss and execute business plans, finances, trends and marketing aspects as clearly as they can describe their dreams and passions. Nolcha Metier is supported by the Garment Industry Development Corporation (www.gidc.org) and Manhattan Chamber of Commerce.

The turn out and support of the magazine was amazing. Keep a look out for my articles in the retail and manufacturing sections of the magazine.

THE MORNING AND AFTERNOON SHOW: Nolcha Fashion Week

I had hardly had much sleep but was just rearing to go and spent some time in the business centre (of the Mayfair Hotel) printing extra information leaflets for the assistants.

The first show commencing at 3pm, consisted of designers Le Nac, DMG and Laurance Rassin.

Amanda from the Paul Mitchell team was well prepared and ready to go. We discussed a few alterations and split the models up to get their hair and make-up done.

The Make-up used was the amazing products from celebrity Make-up Artist Glauca Rossi’s amazing range, Satellite 3 ( www.satellite3.com ).

DAY OF THE FITTINGS

Above pic: Model Elena in Selphie Bong

After last night’s late night I could barely move or pluck up the courage to remove myself from my comfy bed. An early morning call from Kerry and Nolcha sure brought me back to reality. I quickly booked my Addison Lee car to get me to the Mayfair Hotel asap.

When I arrived me, Kerry (Nolcha CEO) and Julie, one of the assistants, set up the room accordingly for the fittings to take place.

Each designer had an hour slot to complete the fittings and make a final selection of which model would be showcasing what.

The lovely director from Clicqisse management, Daryl, was at hand to help the models strut their stuff in superb style.

Despite seeing and being amazed by Selphie’s Nolcha show in New York (September 2007), it was lovely officially meeting her and getting an up close glimpse and feel of her amazing collection.

Mylene, Le Nac designer, also flew in that morning along with Ms Bodangles who was visiting London for the very first time- HOW EXCITING!!!

Laurance Rassin, artist/designer, later came down from his hotel room upstairs to join in the madness.

All in all I was shattered by the end of the fittings!!! It’s crazy how quickly time flies by when you have so much to fit into a day (lol)

All in all I did not go to bed until around 3am and had to be up for 7am L

Me, Kerry, Liz and Rebecca ( Nolcha Team) had a good laugh before dozing away….zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
