Luxury Croatian Label ‘Fjaba’ blows the London Crowd away during London Fashion Week

Luxury Croatian label ‘Fjaba’ made their London Fashion Week debut on Sunday 20th February at the Luxurious and Cosmopolitan Charing Cross Hotel.

Since debuting in 2006 at the Cro- a-Porter show in their native country, the Croatian sisters have successfully secured International placements for their label which is currently available throughout Europe. Their designs have been featured in a number of prominent glossies including Marie Claire and Elle Magazine.

Showcasing their eighth consecutive collection, the sister design duo, as promised presented a collection reflecting “an unforgettable fairy-tale with a wicked twist”. Luxurious fabrics were used throughout the collection which consisted of suedes, sequins and chiffons and were complimented by accessories supplied by designer Tonci Mestrovic. The pieces were elegant, wearable and suitable for the everyday woman.

The bold make-up comprised of pale faces with earthy orange tones carefully placed around the eyes and lips. The hair was placed in buns and accessorised with striking complimenting pom poms.

Overall the collection received a great reception from the fashionable London crowd.
In the evening guests headed down to the official after party and Kay Flawless Fashion Launch at No5, Cavendish Square

About Fjaba:
The sisters Ida and Mirna Litovic started their fairy tale a long time ago through graphic and fashion design, and they presented their first professional collection to the public in 2006 at the Cro-A-Porter Fashion Show, in Zagreb, Croatia, under Fjaba brand.

''We want to be faithful to ourselves, bring something special and interesting to scene. A fashion show is never only showing pieces of clothing, it should be a real story, a ‘fjaba’ (fairy tale), in which music, styling and scenes present the whole creative vision'' said the fashion duo, explaining the secret of their fashion cocktail...

Caudalie Brunch on the London Eye...

Despite getting in extremely late from the Mirror Boy premiere last night I was determined not to miss the Caudalie Premier Cru Eye Cream Brunch on the London Eye to discover and learn more about this fantastic product.

I'm not going to lie, I was a bit nervous about this event as I am rather terrified of heights and have avoided the London Eye for as long as I can remember. Speaking to a friend definitely re-assured me that I would be fine :)

I just about made in time as I was pre-occupied with looking for the meeting point which I had passed without knowing!!! Yes I was that tired.

Well we finally boarded and they supplied us with brunch which was LOVELY and such a bonus for me especially seen as I had not managed to nab any breakfast!

BRUNCH!!!
Caudalie UK director, Jean-Christophe gave us some history on the Caudalie brand and certain facts about their Premier Cru Eye Cream.

The overall presentation was great as it really gave more of an insight into the brand and made you understand why Caudalie is not just any kind of beauty brand. The eye cream initially Launched exclusively in Space NK and sold out within 1 week. I know right!!!!!!

The Premier Cru is a combination of 3 Caudalie patents (Resveratrol, Viniferine and grape Polyphenols) with the most effective natural active ingredients to treat all the signs of ageing: wrinkles, lack of firmness, dark spots, oxidative stress, dullness, cutaneous dryness. Your skin is ensured to be smoother, firmer, more luminous and visibly younger.

We got to try out the eye cream and I must say the texture felt so smooth against the skin and silky. Also you only need a tiny squirt of the cream for amazing results. This means that a bottle is likely to last you a very long time!

After the talk I got to chat and catch-up with other beauty bloggers who also loved the Caudalie eye cream! This versatile cream is definitely a must for your everyday handbag.

Some quick facts about Caudalie

- it was launched in 1995 by Mathilde & Bertrand Thomas
-Caudalie has become the leading anti-ageing brand in French Pharmacies.
- none of their products are tested on animals
- The Premier Cru eye cream took 7 years to complete.

Mirror Boy Premiere : Are you ready for the Journey?

Today I attended the Mirror Boy Premiere (The UK's biggest African movie premier ever) at the Empire in Leicester Square. The event was packed out, so thank god I was able to squeeze past the never ending queue.

In terms of my Outfit I went for a black and gold vintage lace dress and my comfy Japanese leather boot /shoes which I am so totally loving and can’t live without!!

Celebrities and fans came out to support the movie which is about an enthralling journey through Gambia, seen through the eyes of London-born 12 year old Tijan (Edward Kagutuzi). Getting involved in a street fight, in which a boy is hurt, his mother (Genevieve Nnaji) decides to take him to the Gambia to live with her sister. On their arrival in Banjul, Tijan encounters an apparition of a boy smiling at him in a mirror and vanishing. Seeing the same boy in a crowded street market the next day sets in motion a chain of events that culminates in him getting lost. While Tijan's panic-stricken mother struggles to find her son in an intriguing game of survival brinkmanship, Tijan is left alone in the company of the enigmatic Mirror Boy, who is only visible to him. A bruising spiritual rite of passage, Mirror Boy takes Tijan on a magical and mystical journey. Written by Obi Emeloyne.

I briefly headed back to Genevieve Nnaji’s hotel with the crew for some quick strawberries and Nice biscuits. I then finally headed home to bed as have an early start tomorrow!

Nite nite xx

Veuve Cliquot Businesswoman of the Year and dedicated campaigner against cruelty to animals, Annah Stretton opened the 'A La Mode' International LFW Catwalk show with her collection that paid tribute to British history
entitled “The War of the Roses”. Incorporating a vibrant mix of purple leopard print, red tartan and taffeta and floral fabrics, the collection evoked the essence of British eccentricity.

Maria Grachvogel: A/W 11

I headed to the Maria Grachvogel show at 10am to catch a glimpse of her new A/W Collection. I have been a fan of Maria’s pieces for a while and love the fact that her pieces are so wearable. If you haven’t yet been to her Sloane Street Store all I can say is you are certainly missing out!
The show took place at the Luxurious Savoy in Strand. I spotted Hilary Alexander, Fashion Director of the Daily Telegraph, in one of Maria’s stunning pieces.

Overall the collection was very feminine consisting of jumpsuits, her famous magic pants, gorgeous abstract prints and floaty dresses. The models strutted down the Catwalk in Fabulous bold coloured shoes from Gina Shoes.

My favourite pieces were the jumpsuits and a long bold orange drape dress!!

Hair & Make-up
I loved the black lips and the high top buns were just fabulous with an oriental feel to them.
The venue was packed out as always! Attending celebrities included Yasmin Le Bon, Jason Gardiner and Marie Helvin.

I had a quick catch-up with Pepper, Fashion Editor of FAB Magazine. She was looking extremely trendy as always so had to snap her up (See below pic)

Paul Costelloe: A/W 11

First stop of the day was the 9am Paul Costelloe show at Somerset House.

We were presented with another collection of fantastic tailored pieces by the Dublin-born designer. Models strutted down the Catwalk in fabulous red fringed bobs.

There was a strong 60’s influence throughout the collection with flirty skirts being a key feature throughout. The collection consisted of lots of tartan and heritage tweed with a contemporary twist.

This time round Paul Costelloe’s daughter made a guest appearance on the Catwalk giving the sons a break this season :)

London Fashion Week Day 1: A/W 11

Today was the first day of London Fashion Week and man was I excited!!!

I had to be up super early so that I could catch some shows before heading to work! Unlike last season where the Pope being in town meant severe delays, my car arrived nice and early this time round and it was a generally stress free journey.

My first show for the morning was the Amazing Paul Costelloe show followed by the Maria Grachvogal show. I will tell you more about these in a separate post. After that I headed over to the Charing Cross Hotel to work at the International ’A la Mode’ LFW catwalk show. Managing so many people = lots of patience, so my cafe latte from the Charing Cross Hotel cafe was definitely a must!

So as you can imagine it was a very busy and exhausting day but well worth it!

Adopted Culture: A fashion movement by award winning model nana afua antwi

Today I met up with Top Model of Colour winner 'Nana Afua Antwi' to learn more about her new fashion label and concept 'adopted culture'!

Our Amazing Hot Choclates mmmmm :)

Nana first wore one of her pieces at the Clothes Show Live event in London last year and the amount of people I witnessed stopping her and asking for her business card was just phenomenal. And being a model herself it made sense for her to be the face of her brand.

Below pic: Me and Nana(wearing one of her creations)last year at Clothes Show Live.
Although she has just officially launched the label requests have already come pouring in and she most recently got approached by the FAB Magazine editor to design an exclusive piece.

It was great just catching up with Nana and hearing more about her journey and what she hopes to project through her label.

Her sketches were just simply fabulous and can't wait to see the full range!
